You probably already know that a complaint was made by Opera about how most users use Internet Explorer because they a) can’t install another browser (eg. security rules) b) don’t really care much and just use what comes with their computer. The EU decided that this means the competition have a lesser chance of people using their browsers.

Then Microsoft proposed a ballot screen where users picked a browser. They got another complaint because people would click Apple’s Safari because it is first in the list!

Now Microsoft has decided to improve the ballot screen system.

Back in 2004 Microsoft was fined about unfairness with media players and the way Microsoft offered their media player as default. Microsoft then decided to offer a version of Windows without Windows Media Player.
